Yamaha has expanded quickshifter availability on the R15 V4 with new Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White variants. The clutchless upshift system was previously restricted to the Intensity White colour scheme. Racing Blue costs Rs. 1,74,850 without the quickshifter and Rs. 1,79,500 (ex-showroom) with it which puts the difference at Rs. 4,650.
The quickshifter is a unidirectional system designed exclusively for clutchless upshifts. It lets the rider select a higher gear without operating the clutch lever during acceleration but downshifts still require conventional clutch operation. Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White now join Intensity White in the quickshifter-equipped R15 V4 range but Yamaha has not extended the system across every available paint option yet.
Power comes from the familiar 155 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation and fuel injection. The motor develops 18.1 bhp and 14.2 Nm and sends power through a six-speed gearbox. Yamaha's VVA system switches valve operation according to engine speed to support power delivery across the rev range a defining mechanical element of the current R15 generation.
The R15 V4 is built around Yamaha's Deltabox frame and has 37 mm upside-down front forks with a linked-type monocross rear suspension setup. A 282 mm disc handles braking duties at the front and a 220 mm disc sits at the rear – backed by a dual-channel ABS system. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels with a 100/80-section front tyre and a 140/70-section radial rear tyre.
Dimensions also stay unchanged. The R15 V4 measures 1,990 mm long, 725 mm wide and 1,135 mm tall with a 1,325 mm wheelbase. Seat height stands at 815 mm and ground clearance measures 170 mm. Kerb weight is 141 kg and the fuel tank has a capacity of 11 litres.
The equipment list comprises a bi-functional LED headlamp, LED position lamp, LED tail-lamp and a digital instrument console. The display provides information such as gear position and VVA status and selected specifications also offer smartphone connectivity and traction control. The quickshifter now adds another factory-fitted electronic aid to Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White shades.
