Ultraviolette has handed over 183 units of the X47 Skyforce to the Kolkata police. The X47 Skyforce is based on the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover base variant, but it features several changes to suit law enforcement needs.
For starters, it gets a reworked electronic architecture to support sirens, hooter alarms, and a public address system. It also includes mic and walkie-talkie holders, along with side panniers. The Skyforce also features a special white colour scheme with 'Kolkata Police' written on the body.
The police force using electric motorcycles is likely aimed at reducing operational costs, with an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional ICE vehicles.
As it is based on the X47 Crossover, it gets a claimed top speed of 145kmph and a claimed IDC range of 211km on a single charge. The hardware has also remained the same, with the 41mm inverted fork and monoshock. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, with braking duties taken care of by a 320mm front and 230mm rear disc brake setup.
