Triumph has reduced prices of the Speed 400 and Tracker 400 in India as it has brought in the third price revision since June. The Speed 400 is now priced at Rs. 2.34 lakh after a Rs. 6,000 cut and the Tracker 400 costs Rs. 2.42 lakh following a Rs. 7,000 reduction. The revision comes only two months after Triumph increased prices across its 400-series motorcycles.
The Tracker 400 carries the stronger engine tune of the two discounted motorcycles. Its 349 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder TR-series engine develops 40 PS at 8,750 rpm and 32 Nm at 7,500 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox, ride-by-wire throttle and assist-and-slip clutch complete the drivetrain. Its flat-track-inspired treatment includes wide handlebars, a flyscreen, seat cowl, number-board graphics and dual-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels.
Suspension also separates the Tracker from the Speed. The Tracker gets 43 mm upside-down front forks with 140 mm travel and a rear monoshock with 130 mm travel. It runs 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear MRF REVZ FD1 tyres. Braking duties are handled by a 300 mm front disc with a four-piston radial ByBre caliper and a 230 mm rear disc backed by a dual-channel ABS system.
The Speed 400 uses the same 349 cc TR-series architecture but makes 37 PS at 8,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 7,000 rpm. It also gets a 6-speed gearbox, electronic throttle control and assist-and-slip clutch. The chassis combines 43 mm upside-down Big Piston front forks with 130 mm travel and a gas-charged rear monoshock offering 120 mm travel.
The Speed rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with 110/80 R17 front and 150/70 R17 rear tyres. Seat height stands at 803 mm, wheelbase measures 1,386 mm and fuel capacity is 13 litres. Wet weight is 179 kg. Equipment includes switchable traction control, full-LED lighting, an analogue-digital instrument cluster, gear-position indicator and USB-C charging.
The Tracker sits slightly taller with an 805 mm seat height and weighs around 181 kg. Fuel capacity is also 13 litres. Its equipment list includes switchable traction control, ABS, full-LED lighting and analogue-digital instrumentation. The longer suspension travel, different tyre dimensions and altered riding position give it a noticeably different chassis setup from the Speed despite the shared engine family.
Triumph has not changed prices of the Speed T4, Scrambler 400 X, Scrambler 400 XC or Thruxton 400. The Speed T4 costs Rs. 2.09 lakh, the Scrambler 400 X Rs. 2.65 lakh, the Scrambler 400 XC Rs. 2.99 lakh and the Thruxton 400 Rs. 2.75 lakh. The Scrambler 400 X also gets a new colour option.
