A new entry-level dual-sport motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp has been spotted without camouflage recently upping the speculations of a production-ready design that could revive the Impulse name. Hero has not confirmed the final badge but the motorcycle closely matches patent drawings seen earlier. Its compact dimensions also indicate that it will likely sit below the Xpulse 200 4V.
1. Impulse Name Could Return
The strongest speculation centres on a revival of the Impulse badge. The original Impulse was a lightweight dual-purpose motorcycle and this new machine follows a similar formula with slim bodywork, an upright riding position and trail-based mechanical bits. Hero could still choose another name including an Xpulse-linked badge like Xpulse 160.
2. Likely 163.2 cc Engine
Reports link the motorcycle to Hero's 163.2 cc single-cylinder engine from the Xtreme 160R 4V. In the naked motorcycle, the engine develops 16.9 hp at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Hero could revise the calibration for stronger low-rpm response to suit trail riding. Earlier patent drawings also showed a kickstarter with electric start expected for the production version.
3. 19-Inch Front And 17-Inch Rear Wheels
The new dual-sport is expected to run a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke-wheel combination. It would make the motorcycle more approachable than the Xpulse 200 4V which has a 21-inch front wheel. Long-travel telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock are also visible with reports suggesting around 180 to 200 mm of suspension travel and ground clearance closer or slightly lower than the Xpulse 200.
4. Simple Equipment & Trail-Based Design
The undisguised motorcycle gets a raised front mudguard, narrow fuel tank, slim side panels, high-mounted exhaust and compact tail section. Disc brakes are fitted at both ends and single-channel ABS is expected. A basic LCD console is more likely than as a coloured TFT could be reserved for the top-spec trims. All LED lighting, ride modes, Switchable ABS, traction control, etc are possible on the production motorcycle.
5. Expected To Sit Below Xpulse 200 4V
Price could become one of its biggest advantages. The Xpulse 200 4V sits around Rs. 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and reports suggest the new motorcycle could cost closer to Rs. 1.35 lakh. A public debut around EICMA 2026 could happen where the flagship Xpulse 421 could also be showcased.
