KTM Factory Racing's Pedro Acosta secured his maiden MotoGP race victory at the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider fought off strong pressure from Aprilia riders Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi to take his first Sunday win in the premier class.
The race began with Factory Aprilia riders, Jorge Martin and Bezzecchi making a strong start and moving to the head of the field in the first few sets of corners. Ai Ogura initially occupied third, while Acosta moved up to fourth after passing Marc Marquez.
Acosta continued his charge and moved past Ogura before overtaking Bezzecchi for second place on Lap 4. He then stayed close to Martin before making his move for the lead on Lap 9. Acosta used the run out of Turn 1 to get alongside Martin and completed the pass into Turn 2A. Once in front, Acosta gradually built a gap while Martin and Bezzecchi remained locked in their own battle for the podium.
With two laps remaining, Acosta had a 1.4-second advantage over Martin. He maintained a gap of 1.2 seconds on the final lap to cross the finish line first and secure his maiden MotoGP victory. Martin finished second for Aprilia, while teammate Bezzecchi completed the podium just 0.192 seconds behind him.
